Comments:

I am probably best described as a "wanna-be avid cyclist". Unfortunately, work and a very hot, humid summer have conspired against me...this year. First, I cannot speak highly enough of [...] at [...]. He's a joy to work with and goes to a lot of effort to make sure that what leaves his shop is a happy customer with a properly fitted trike (or bike). Fact is, I walked away from another shop much closer to my home and bought from Dave because I know him and trust him to do what's right--and because he is responsive!I had an Expedition, but sold that to buy the 2012 Road...and it was absolutely worth it! The Road is SWEEEEET! It handles tightly, affords a much smoother, more pleasant ride, and is much easier to carry up and down the cellar steps than the Expedition was. The website says it weighs 38 pounds, but it feels much lighter, high 20's maybe....but, hey, maybe I'm just used to the much larger Expedition.GREAT: Everything from seat to handling, from the smooth, yet stiff ride, the tight handling to the gorgeous look of the machine. There's not a thing I don't like about it except the NOT-SO-GREAT twist-grip shifters. Some people like these. I don't. Too hard to turn, esp. the front derailleur--sometimes it feels like it is jammed, and, anyway, the positioning of the grips requires the use of the pinky and fourth finger to turn them and these are the two weakest fingers on my hand. Perhaps mounting the shifters reversed top for botton would help (I did this on my other 'bent, a home-built, and it does work, but it puts the front shifter on the right instead of the traditional left location. No complaints about the machine, though. Love it, love it, love it--I wish I could get another one! Highly recommended.

    Comments:

The Catrike Road is a great trike: fast, stable and a blast to ride. Dave at Basically Bicycles took the time to explain the differences in the Catrike models and encouraged testing around the wonderful path along the river down the street from his shop. I took my trike to a Park Tools bike class, and the teacher was amazed at the quality and thoughtful design of the trike. Paulo has thought of everything! Thanks Dave for setting me on the Catrike road!

    Comments:

Having cycled across the United States, coast to coast, this past spring with the beautiful Hot Pink 2007 Catrike Road over 3200 miles, while loaded with 60 pounds of gear in the panniers, cycling across the intensely hot desert, up mountains, across roughly paved roads and unavoidable rumble strips along the way as well as getting bumped around while being taken in and out of hotel rooms; with no mechanical breakdowns and no flat tires (I upgraded to the "Marathon Plus" tires) the outstanding quality of this trike speaks for itself! Thanks to Paulo, owner of the Catrike Company, for designing such a great product [...]
